Weekend Happenings
Like most fall weekends, sports fans were laser focused on the NFL. But there was plenty going on across the world of sports. This article catches you up on the events & happenings from the past weekend.
The NBA SuperGoats
Booker, Jokic and Luka had subpar outings when the season kicked off (Luka because the Lakers blew out Golden State). But boy, they came back with a vengeance. It starts with Booker, who had 43 points against the Warriors.
And Luka had a 50 piece Sunday against the Jazz on the road, leading the Lakers to a comeback win.
Jokic also led his team to a comeback win with a triple double. His stat line was 35 points 15 boards and 10 assists. After the game, he also had some words for the fans that booed the team.
Philly Falls
After some great games and a legendary comeback against the Cavs, the Sixers fell to Detroit this weekend. A talking point after the game was the lack of rebounds they had. And King James spoke about it afterwards.
Knicks and Heat Struggle
New York and Miami have yet to win a game (as of this writing). Giannis and his new crew have not come together very well yet. Meanwhile, the defending champs look like they are sleepwalking. Dallas goes to Miami today and are 7 point dogs, so one would expect the Heat to finally respond. As for New York, they have a tougher task against the Pistons on Tuesday.
Arizona State's New QB
It has been a QB carousel in Tempe. From being "Bolievers" with Cutter Boley to moving to backup Mikey Keene and now onto Jake Fette. Keene was, unfortunately, injured. That gave Boley another shot this past Saturday but he remained ineffective against KState. That prompted Kenny Dillingham to make the move and play Fette in the 4th quarter. Now, the El Paso, Texas product is expected to be the starter moving forward. The Sun Devils pulled off the comeback and won 28-17.
BYU Suffers First Loss
BYU came off a great home win vs Notre Dame last week. On Saturday, they found themselves in a tough travel spot against UCF. But they were in the game and in a good position to win throughout. A roughing the kicker call, however, contributed to them losing on the road. Judge for yourself if that was a good call or not.
And that is your quick 4 minute recap from the weekend.
