Recapping Week One's Biggest Moments

What a weekend it was for college football (and it is still not over!) This is an appreciation post for what we saw, a recognition of what were objectively some of the best plays and sequences of the weekend. Some will for sure touch a nerve for those on the losing side of a bet. In the end, though, hard to say highlights like these aren't the reason we religiously tune in and bet every Saturday morning.

A sad showing for a program that was a 30 point favorite and lost outright against UMass. The Minutemen season long win total was at 2.5. It was probably over at this point, but here is what I called the dagger. 

And like many probably also saw, the sad, pre-planned fireworks show at the stadium after the game.

Speaking of massive favorites that dropped the bag, we can't let Michigan squeak by without mention. Yes, they won (and I am a big Michigan backer, btw) but they didn't deserve to. A hail mary to win is not ideal, but a win is a win. Below is the entire sequence from the first attempt to the added second to the miraculous catch.

This game was not easy on the eyes, but the ending made up for it. A back and forth with Baylor trying to mount a comeback led by DJ Lagway. Down to the last play, down to a few inches. 

One can only imagine the smile on Krabs's face. Grin from ear to ear, I would assume, as the mighty Hokies easily dispatched lowly VMI. They had a 66 piece before the end of the 3rd quarter and look like they are great hands with James Franklin (albeit not the best opponent).

This kid can RUN. How bout two punt returns for touchdowns and 98 receiving yards. A well-deserved recognition to Javon Tracy up in Minnesota. 

Ohio State football looked like a well-oiled machine this weekened. Again, not the most formidable opponent, but the players still have to go out ther and compete. A 53 point beat down at home with Bo Jackson leading the charge.

Army, Navy and Air Force all had a memorable Week One. Air Force shut out Duquesne, Navy beat Towson by 27, and Army won by 56 against Bryant. Here's a field level view of the Midshipmen doing work. 

We're on to next weekend, with even better games set to kick off and the NFL starting up on Sunday. Get ready.
