DAILY MLB NUGGET SHEET (6/1/26)
MLB Nugget Sheet for June 1st

Richay
MLB & NFL

#1: The New York Mets are heading out west to play the Mariners after a 10-1 victory over Miami at home. Far east coast to west coast with a start time of 9:40 pm for NY. The Mariners are coming off a sweep of the Dbacks in Seattle. The Mariners have won 6 straight.
#2: Austin Warren, a reliever, will likely start for the Mets and be followed by leftie Sean Manaea, according to reports. Seattle has struggled vs lefties in May in terms of batting average. Might be worth noting Seattle bats probably feel confident after hitting 10 home runs in their pitcher’s park vs Arizona this past weekend.
#3: Two other tough travel spots: The Tigers are going to Tampa after a 1-2 loss vs the White Sox in Chicago. They left early in the day, though, and do not have to deal with a similar 3-hour time lag like the Mets. The Angels left from Tampa and headed back home to California.
#4: The Angels used most of their arms this weekend and are arguably in the worst bullpen shape of all teams entering Monday. They have the 3rd worst ERA in baseball.
#5: Kyle Freeland starts for Colorado vs the Angels. Freeland has struggled most of the year and allowed at least 6 earned runs in 4 of the past 5 games, albeit it was vs the Dodgers, Dbacks, Braves and Phillies, so tough assignments.
#6: Jose Soriano starts for LAA. His ERA was 1.17 in April and rose to 5.34 in May but still has great K and groundball rates going up against Colorado. Interestingly (and maybe inconsequential) his nighttime ERA is almost 4 while daytime ERA is 0.35.
#7: Luinder Avila will open for the Royals in what should be largely a bullpen game vs the Reds. KC’s pen is also not great with a 5.14 ERA. Avila, if he goes long (2/3 innings), has a good groundball rate and does not get hit hard but has a 1.82 WHIP and over 5 ERA.
#8: The White Sox enter Monday on a 5-game win streak against the Twins and Joe Ryan. The Twins, meanwhile, are on the opposite side of the coin entering Monday on a 5-game losing streak, with two of those loses coming against the Sox just last week in a series they lost to Chicago.
