On The Board Review, you’ve probably heard us talk about “riding hot dudes,” but I’ve yet to share the secret sauce in article form. The truth is, it’s not that complicated—we find hot hitters and we keep riding them until they cool off.
With no Board Review on this lovely Saturday, I’m giving you five hot dudes I think stay hot.
1. Miguel Vargas, 3B — Chicago White Sox
Miguel Vargas hit a huge walk-off two-run homer yesterday against the Tigers in a game that saw Munetaka Murakami leave with a hamstring injury. But that’s not Miguel’s only big moment lately.
Over his last eight games, Vargas has racked up 7 hits, 5 RBIs, 6 runs, and 2 home runs. The White Sox, who are somehow sitting three games above .500, are going to need his bat to stay hot with Murakami expected to miss multiple weeks.
The Plays
- HRR Over 1.5 — 1 Unit
- Home Run +450 — 0.25 Unit
2. Bryan Reynolds, OF — Pittsburgh Pirates
Bryan’s a hot dude.
Maybe not the first guy that comes to mind when you think of hot dudes, but make absolutely no mistake about it—Bryan Reynolds is a hot dude.
Not only did he hit a walk-off two-run bomb yesterday to beat the Twins, but he also has 12 hits, 2 home runs, and 6 RBIs over his last seven games. We rolled with Bryan last night, and we’re rolling with him again today.
The Plays
- Home Run +750 — 0.25 Unit
- HRR Over 1.5 — 1 Unit
3. Jonathan Aranda, INF — Tampa Bay Rays
Aranda is another VERY hot fella.
He enters today riding a seven-game hit streak and has recorded multiple hits in each of his last four games. Jonathan is seeing beach balls at the plate right now.
He’s also added 2 dingers and 7 RBIs over his last seven games.
The Plays
- Home Run +700 — 0.25 Unit
- HRR Over 1.5 — 1 Unit
4. Jarren Duran, OF — Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox may be cold, but Jarren Duran is HOT.
Duran currently owns a six-game hit streak, and over his last nine games he’s piled up 14 hits, 4 home runs, and 10 RBIs. That qualifies him as one of the hottest dudes in the entire damn league.
So when you see Boston is just 3-6 over their last nine games, don’t blame Jarren.
The Plays
- Home Run +700 — 0.25 Unit
- HRR Over 1.5 — 1 Unit
5. Rafael Devers, DH — San Francisco Giants
Raffy hasn’t exactly had the smoothest tenure with the Giants, but he’s swinging it well right now.
Over his last nine games, Devers has totaled 10 hits, 10 RBIs, and 2 home runs. The production is finally starting to show up, and we’re willing to keep riding the hot bat.
The Plays
- Home Run +350 — 0.25 Unit
- HRR Over 2.5 — 1 Unit
There you have it: five hot dudes, five bats we trust, and hopefully five reasons to cash some tickets on a Saturday.
Remember, hot dudes cool off eventually. The trick is figuring out when. Until then, we ride
