4 NBA teams you should be buying into this season.

Some of you may know me as a big NBA guy. Sneakily, it’s one of my favorite sports to bet, specifically futures, and today I have four under-the-radar teams I’m buying into this year.

Dallas Mavericks O33.5 Wins

The Dallas Mavericks had an underwhelming year, to say the least. Cooper Flagg won Rookie of the Year, and outside of Naji Marshall turning into a decent second option, Cooper Flagg was legit the only bright spot for the Mavericks.

This year should be A LOT different.

Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson, two guys I’d refer to as dead weight, are gone. Kyrie Irving and Dereck Lively are healthy, plus they lured Dusty May away from Michigan and then drafted his guy, Morez Johnson, in the first round.

Not to mention signing former No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher, who has been a bust, but a change of scenery never killed anyone, and he should still add depth off the bench.

This Dallas Mavericks team should actually look a lot different this year, and with Max Christie and Daniel Gafford as well, I actually think this bench is surprisingly deep.

After all that, I didn’t even mention the Cooper Flagg Year 2 leap that could certainly happen.

Overall, I think there’s A LOT to like for a team with a 33.5 win total, and I will be buying into Dusty May’s squad.

Indiana Pacers O43.5 Wins

This one isn’t gonna come as a surprise to anyone, really.

This team was in the NBA Finals two years ago, and a lot of people believe we were a Tyrese Haliburton ACL away from an NBA championship.

He missed the entirety of last season, and it was kind of a wash for the Pacers, who went 19-63 and didn’t even have the rights to their first-round draft pick because they traded it to the Clippers for Ivica Zubac.

While I didn’t like the value of the trade, I do like the Zubac fit for this Pacers team, which will start four KEY guys from that Finals roster, along with bench pieces like T.J. McConnell, Obi Toppin, and Ben Sheppard, while also adding Kelly Oubre and Larry Nance Jr.

Rick Carlisle has a deep team this year, and there’s absolutely no reason they shouldn’t get back to their 2024-25 ways if Haliburton is healthy.

Utah Jazz O37.5 Wins

I am really excited about this basketball team.

I might, in all reality, be too excited, but excuse me for saying a starting lineup of Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr., Darryn Peterson, Keyonte George, and Ace Bailey might be one of the youngest, most exciting starting fives in the entire league.

Even after trading Walker Kessler to the Lakers, the JJJ trade proved something last year to Jazz fans: it was all about this year.

The Utah Jazz are building something, and it’s not just the starting lineup.

They added Josh Green, Jaxson Hayes, Jusuf Nurkić, and Josh Okogie, in addition to drafting Peterson, and they’re returning solidified bench performers Isaiah Collier, Brice Sensabaugh, and Kyle Filipowski.

This team is young, deep, and fun, and I think they could — and should — finish the year over .500 and make the playoffs before fully taking off over the next few seasons.

Portland Trail Blazers O41.5 Wins

I’m a Ja Morant guy.

That’s a scary thing to say these days because his offseason behavior is questionable, to say the least, but I love to watch Ja Morant hoop, and I can’t think of one guy in the entire league who needed a change of scenery more than Ja.

I actually think this is a good fit.

This team also added Dame Lillard, and here’s why I like these additions:

The Blazers went 42-40 last year and made the playoffs despite having one of the highest turnover rates per 100 possessions and one of the worst half-court offenses in the NBA.

What bailed them out?

Being one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the league and creating second chances.

Adding Ja Morant and Dame Lillard to this lineup should almost certainly help Portland create better first-shot opportunities and not have to rely so much on second chances.

Portland’s core is young and full of size, and now I’d say it has enough star power between Avdija and Morant to compete at a high level and outdo last year’s 42-win performance.
