My Thoughts on Globe Life Field

I am sitting here back in the office a day after watching the Astros throw a no hitter and I have many things to say about Globe Life Field and the experience around it. Before I get into it and my thoughts I have to get into why I am even writing this blog. Trent and Rav have claimed this to be the worst stadium in the history of sports. They say it’s a Costco warehouse that has no aura and is genuinely the worst place to watch a game. If anyone knows me they know my opinions and likes are very different from most. So I really don’t care what they think but I did have it in the back of my head going into it.

The first thing I’ll get into is the location of the ball park and the atmosphere around it. Now I’m from Minnesota and our stadiums are all in the city and the surrounding area is just the street and some nice bars. Nice being a stretch compared to what they have here. Texas live from what I could see is top 2, not 2 as far as bars go. They have the outside atmosphere locked down and it’s not close. You have some sick hotels with some pools overlooking the stadium. I might be an idiot but I also didn’t know that Jerry's World is right next door. I might be dumb but I love when they throw everything in one area. It was only a 30 minute drive from the office and I was so impressed. The atmosphere and location get a 9/10 from me. 

Now let's get into the stadium and the atmosphere on the inside. When I walked into this stadium I was greeted with a giant turf area called the backyard bar with picnic tables, bean bags, yard games and giant bar with every kind of mixed drink you can imagine. That was just in center field. Then you walk down some stairs and see the outfield concourse which is massive. The stadium is truly so large it’s hard to comprehend how it’s indoors. They have the best pro shop I have ever been in and it’s not close and they have multiple. I didn’t have any of the food because I’m still battling the flu but they had the most food options and the biggest food options I have seen in my life. The atmosphere lacked a little bit and I think it’s just how the stadium is set up so I do see where they are coming from with the Costco warehouse comment. There were a ton of fans at that game and it’s weird to see in a stadium of that size but it lacks the umph. The loudest it got was for a Yordan homer and even that wasn’t very loud. I think it’s just how the stadium is built though, like it just can’t get loud no matter how hard you try. Rangers fans rock and love their team and the stadium is a great place to be at. I think this is the best spot to go with your boys and even your family. This stadium is better than Target Field, Kaufmann Stadium and many others I have been to. Is it up there with Fenway & Wrigley? Fuck no but it does the job. Don’t listen to Trent and Rav this is an above average stadium.
