The dog days of summer are basically here with the Stanley Cup playoffs and NBA finals a few weeks from coming to an end. As degen gamblers, we are obligated to go to the diamond. Personally, I love baseball, which is interesting because I did not even watch it prior to discovering some person named BookitWithTrent. To help out the community and hopefully provide information that leads to some betting victories, I present the daily nugget sheet. These are things that stand out to me while I lab for the games of the day. The information for pitchers is based on their stats from the whole year while the information for teams is based on their performance over the past 24 to 30 days. The reason is simple. I want to focus on where teams have found recent success and where they have struggled. My view is that recent info is theoretically more relevant than what they were doing late March. Pitchers require a larger sample size, so I opt for the complete 2026 stats. With that, here are the nuggets for Thursday, May 28, 2026. Best of luck!
#1: Arrighetti ranks in the 90th percentile for suppressing hard hits on Baseball Savant (this is very good in that his hit pitches do not qualify as being hard hit). Texas, however, has been hitting RHP pitching the hardest over the past month. Arrighetti has a great 1.3 ERA but will be backed up by the 30th ranked bullpen in baseball in terms of ERA.
#2: The Astros are generally good at not striking out, but over the past several weeks, their strikeout percentages vs RHP have ballooned to 25 percent, a potential benefit for Eovaldi who strikes out batters at higher than the league median.
#3: Rea is in the 70th percentile in ground ball rates while Pirates are at the very top of the league in ground balls hit (RHP) the past month, creating some good double play potential.
#4: Skenes enters the game on 4 days rest after tossing 98 pitches and while his strikeout rate is very high relative to other pitchers, the Cubs do not have high K rates vs RHP over the past month.
#5: Like Skenes, Eovaldi enters the game on 4 days rest after tossing 97 pitches, but unlike Arrighetti notes above, he is buttressed by one of the best bullpens in baseball
#6: Payton Tolle ranks near the 80th percentile in strikeouts, does not walk batters and has an expected 2.2 ERA (xERA). Atlanta has been striking out slightly higher than the league median over the past month vs LHP.
#7: Notable weather as of 5am ET: winds are set to be gusting OUT to right field in Pittsburgh at 12 mph, the wind is blowing IN at 11mph at Camden Yards, and seemingly out to right at 15 mph in Chicago (White Sox).
