3 CFB QBs You Aren't Glazing Enough

If you actually thought I was gonna be glazing Arch in this article, seek help. Strictly for bait purposes. The guy already gets glazed every time he breathes. Let’s get to the guys that actually need it.

2,963 yards through the air with 17 TDs and 9 INTs for Washington in his freshman season on a tough Maryland team. He also piled in an extra 303 yards and 4 TDs on the ground. It was a season filled with flashes from Washington despite the Terrapins 4-8 record. Maryland started the season 4-0 and ended the year with 8 straight losses, in pretty typical Maryland fashion. While there were definitely some more plays Malik could’ve made in that 8 game stretch, a majority of the slide was because their defense was atrocious. The defense generated plenty of turnovers but allowed 34.4 PPG in those 8 games, which won’t win you much of anything in the Big Ten. 

But Washington was one of the only reasons some of those games were close. He’s 6’5” with ridiculous arm talent and a poise in the pocket that you won’t see from many freshmen. And while he did have a very good offensive line last year, he also had a sorry excuse for a run game and some unreliable pass catchers. Maryland made a few portal upgrades in both of those areas that should prove valuable. Some better pieces around Washington in his sophomore season combined with what shapes up as an easier schedule in conference play smells like a recipe for a big time breakout.

My glorious King JKS. Maybe you do glaze him a bit now because for whatever reason a bunch of NFL draft accounts have been posting about him this past week on X and people are taking notice. But you still aren’t glazing enough. And if you’re reading this you probably know I’ve been glazing ever since that Week 1 start against Oregon State last year. JKS is one of the more electrifying QBs to watch in CFB, and if you watched last season you know exactly why. Another freshman that looked much older in the pocket and has one of the prettiest deep balls in the game. He struggled under pressure at times last season but that’s to be expected for a freshman QB behind a below average o-line. But going into this year there’s a lot of momentum for JKS and Cal despite a good bit of turnover. 

Justin Wilcox was finally fired, opening the door for Oregon DC Tosh Lupoi to come home to his alma mater and build a new culture. As part of that, he hired Jordan Somerville (who he worked with at Oregon a few years back) as the OC. A risky hire as Somerville at 30 years old will surely be one of the youngest playcallers in CFB, but exactly the type of risk I think Cal needs to take with JKS and this offense. Not to mention they bring in some exciting transfers like Ian Strong and Chase Hendricks to help replace some lost production in the pass catching room. 2026 JKS gives me a lot of the same vibes as 2025 Sorsby. One of my goats who is primed to take a huge step forward and very likely be thrown blank checks by any blue blood program by Christmas. Watch JKS this year and I can promise you won’t be disappointed.

Here’s one some of you may not expect from me. The former 5-star JuJu Lewis who started two games towards the end of the season for Coach Prime last year. I never understood the glaze for Kaidon Salter, who was very disappointing for the Buffs last year. It probably should’ve been Lewis’ job after the Salter benching, but whether it was some behavioral issues or Deion just really wanting to make sure that redshirt didn’t get burned, the hilarious Staub experiment happened instead. Maybe it’s better in retrospect that Lewis didn’t start more games after hearing his comments on how the Buffs were operating as an offense last year…

Insane that that’s real, but now they bring in Brennan Marion, the conductor of the GoGo offense that he ran at UNLV and Sac State the past three years. I think it's clear the talent is there with Lewis, but now he gets to play in an offense that has a real identity. Colorado definitely didn’t have that last year and I’d even go as far to say they didn’t consistently have it during the Shedeur and Travis days either. Lewis in that offense should be fun. Helps to bring in some really fun pass catchers too in Danny Scudero, Kam Perry, and DeAndre Moore. And while the offensive line won’t be elite by any means, its been rebuilt to be one of the more experienced lines Prime has had at CU. Everything as an offense sets up pretty well for Lewis, who I think has the talent to play well even if it didn’t.

The schedule will be tough though, especially in the Big 12. Barring some miracle, the Buffs defense should still get ran through. But Julian Lewis in that offense should be able to keep up some, which means we get some fun and get to bet a ton of overs on some pretty high totals.
