We are officially done with our first NFL Sunday and it was a doozy. There were a couple teams with a lot to prove and boy did they prove it. Other than the very few games that went a different direction than expected it was the chalkiest Sunday slate we have seen in awhile. The noon slate was dominated by favorites and the only one to lose was the Titans and they were practically a pick'em. Let's get into the three biggest games of the Sunday slate.
We will start with what was really aside from the Texans vs Bills the only exciting game. The Saints visited the Lions and this game went exactly how I expected it would through the first three quarters. It was Lions domination as the Saints had absolutely nothing to show for most of the game. Tyler Shough looked unbelievable in the 2H and the Saints were throwing the ball all over this pathetic Lions defense. The Lions offense did what they do and scored basically whenever they had to but that defense is horrid. In OT the Saints marched down the field and brought them within 1. Chris Olave is going to be a fucking problem this year, he was routing up anyone who wanted it om that Lions defense. The Saints ended up losing on one of the worst 2pt conversion calls I have seen, it had no chance. The Lions look to be very average yet again this year but this Saints team could make some noise. Hard to argue they aren’t ahead of the Falcons & Panthers already. I don’t hate taking a flyer on them to win the NFC South.
The next game I’ll talk about was one of the most exciting Vikings wins I have watched. I have never seen an ass beating that bad in my life. They absolutely dominated the game in the 4th quarter and there was absolutely nothing anyone could do. The Vikings lose their QB on the second drive and are forced to play the rest of the game with old ass Carson Wentz. All he did was step in and make plays when he had to. Was he amazing? God no but he did the job. What I want to talk about is this Vikings defense. The secondary was blah they don’t get praise from me but that front seven had me chubbed up like you wouldn’t believe. Brian Flores was a mad man and I tried to tell all of you this team got younger, faster, stronger and better and boy did they show it. You don’t have two top draft picks in the middle for no reason. Big Citrus and Caleb Banks being added to Dallas Turner, Jalen Redmond and Andrew VanGinkel is a recipe for an ass beating and they did all of that. I tried to tell you this defense can keep you in any game and that’s exactly what they did. The Vikings Super Bowl run is off to a magical start.
The last game I want to touch on is Sunday Night Football and I’m only going to talk about the New York Giants because I was impressed. First I’ll start with Jaxson Dart, this dude is an absolute gamer. He has it all the arm, the speed and the aura. That kid is going to be a stud for a very long time but he’s not what I’m obsessed with on this team. This fucking defense is NASTY, especially that front 7. They are young, fiery, flashy and mean. They finally have a coach to put them in the right position to succeed and boy did it show. Abdul Carter and Brian Burns coming off the edge is a scary, scary sight and I feel bad for any QB who has to deal with them. They are a real threat in the NFC East and I actually think they look light years ahead of the other three teams. It’s early but that team can play with anybody.
