New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks: The Super Bowl MVP Bet That Is UNDER VALUED

I have a fun long-shot bet for Super Bowl MVP that I truly believe you are not going to be hearing anywhere else. Before I just come out and say it, though, let me walk you through exactly how I got there, because the path matters just as much as the pick. First, we have good ol’ Sam Darnold (+102). Look, it has been a very fun story. He’s played legitimately good football, resurrected his career, and deserves a ton of credit. That said, the turnover issue never fully went away this season. It pops up at the worst times, and that matters here, because this Patriots defense gets better every single week. They’ve already made C.J. Stroud and Justin Herbert look flat-out incompetent at times, and they thrive on forcing quarterbacks into mistakes. In a Super Bowl setting, against a defense that disguises coverages as well as anyone, that’s a red flag for me at short MVP odds. Next up is Drake Maye (+230). Speaking of turnover problems, Drake Maye has been Mr. Fumblerooski throughout these playoffs. The ball security has been an adventure, to say the least. And honestly, I actually like him more than Darnold at these odds from a pure talent standpoint. But he’s still not ticking Jim (first time officially using that phrase). I’m just not expecting a second-year quarterback, who has looked mediocre or worse for long stretches this postseason, to suddenly put together a clean, MVP-caliber Super Bowl performance on the biggest stage of his career.

Which leads me to my long-shot guy.

Marcus Jones.

Marcus Jones is the definition of an X-factor. At the University of Houston in 2021, he won the Paul Hornung Award as the most versatile player in college football and also took home the Jet Award as the nation’s top return specialist. Over his college career at Troy and Houston, he totaled nine return touchdowns, tying an NCAA record. In other words, this isn’t some random dart throw — explosiveness has always been his calling card.At the NFL level, Marcus Jones has continued to do nothing but make game-changing plays. In 2022, he became the first player in 45 years to record a punt return touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and an interception return touchdown in a single season. He currently has the lowest odds to record an interception in this game at +550, has six career NFL touchdowns, and posted the best kick return average in the NFL in 75 years. He also led the league in non-offensive touchdowns in 2025 and has already picked off C.J. Stroud earlier in these playoffs.In a game where I’m expecting both quarterbacks to make a few mistakes, and both teams to be desperately searching for one explosive, momentum-swinging play, I want the guy who can change the game without ever touching the offense.That’s why, instead of going with the more obvious choice like Rasheed Shaheed, I’m rolling the dice on chaos.
