I Can't Help That I'm Falling In Love With Jordan Love
Saving Matt Lafleur's Job is Worth an MVP Vote

Can Jordan Love win the NFL MVP at 25/1?
Look, I love football, but unlike most, I tend to be critical of the things I love. This sport can be tough to watch at times. You can point the finger at a lot of things, but I think most would agree that the quarterback play in this day and age has declined.
Now I’m not saying we aren’t #blessed to watch some damn good quarterbacks. It’s top heavy with guys like Mahomes, Allen, Lamar and Purdy. After that, the drop off feels steep. That’s what’s making me appreciate the next tier of quarterbacks so much. Lawrence, Goff, Caleb, Maye, and Jordan Love. I’m not even looking for elite - I just want GOOD. And maybe I’m getting greedy, but consistently good would be ideal. It’s tough to find.
Before going any further, I should be upfront about that the fact that I am on the Packers hate watch train this season. I have their under wins and even bet the adjusted total at 6.5. Probably shit wagers considering Green Bay is 5-3. I was pretty clear that the bet was fully directed at fading Matt Lafleur. I had zero beef with Green Bay’s roster, and I even said hiring Jonathan Gannon as DC was one of the best hires of the offseason. I still think Lafleur is hovering somewhere above the shit coach threshold, but he’s got himself a damn good quarterback.
Jordan Love has always been tough for me to figure out as a quarterback. I was all in on him two years ago, but I still had major concerns. He shows flashes of being so good, but then, as I like to say, he will have 2-3 plays where it looks like someone unplugged his controller. Just horrendous throws and poor decisions that you didn’t see coming from a guy that played so well for the majority of the game. I’m also not quite sure how “clutch” he is. I’d say he’s somewhere above Dak but behind Purdy.
Are you impressed with Jordan Loves supporting cast? Because I am not. The O line is shit. He has literally ZERO running game. What he does have is a very good WR1 in Christian Watson, a very good tight end in Tucker Kraft, and I’d say a work in progress but showing potential WR2 in Matthew Golden. You compare that with other players ahead of him on the MVP oddsboard, and I think what Love is doing with this roster gives him even more of a case to be further up the ladder.
We all know the MVP is a QB award. I don’t know what he was before the season started, but I think 25/1 still feels like some value on a guy that week in and week out is playing just about as well as anybody at the hardest position in sports.
