College Football futures PART II: Heisman and win totals.

It’s your boy Steak, and it’s officially time to start putting all my CFB futures on paper. Today, I am going to give you two Heisman winners and a win total I LOVE. College football season is around the corner, and I CAN’T WAIT to talk about it.

HEISMAN:

Josh Hoover +1600

I have heard just about all I’ve needed to hear this offseason about how Indiana is due for a letdown and can’t possibly repeat last year’s success, and I’m here to tell you that is complete and utter nonsense.

Indiana University the basketball school can’t possibly have back-to-back Heisman winners, right??? WRONG.

Josh Hoover is proven production meeting the perfect system—the same system that made Kurtis Rourke an NFL player and Fernando Mendoza the No. 1 overall draft pick. Hoover might have the biggest big-play capability of all three, and you could make the argument that he has better weapons this year than Fernando had last year. There is absolutely no reason to think he won’t turn the ball over less in this system, either.

Curt Cignetti and Indiana are not a flash in the pan. They’re here to stay. I think Hoover will be in the Heisman conversation all year long, and I expect Indiana to be back in the College Football Playoff as well.

Jayden Maiava +2500

This one is kind of a no-brainer. This guy led the nation in QBR last year, he’s coached by a dude who has already coached THREE Heisman winners, and he’s part of a team returning 17 starters.

While I do think USC has one of the toughest schedules in the country, you could make the argument that it gives Jayden more opportunities to showcase himself with more “Heisman moments.” Plus, this is the most complete USC roster we’ve seen in quite some time especially on the defensive side of the ball so 10 wins is a real possibility here.

Maiava at +2500 is undeniably good value, all things considered.

WIN TOTAL:

Missouri O6.5 wins

I am very optimistic about the Missouri Tigers this year. I think they have the best running back in college football in Ahmad Hardy. Even though he was shot on May 10, he has been medically cleared. His status for the opener against Arkansas–Pine Bluff is still in question, but as a Missouri investor, I’d honestly rather he sit that one out anyway.

Transfer quarterback Austin Simmons will be running the show. He’s a very talented dude with a chip on his shoulder after getting injured and watching his backup, Trinidad Chambliss, become an overnight star and take Ole Miss DEEP into the College Football Playoff. Simmons also brings former Ole Miss receiver Cayden Lee with him.

Missouri has some turnover on the offensive line, but it attacked the position aggressively in the portal and returns an All-SEC left tackle. The defense was a top-10 unit last year and, like most teams, has some turnover, but the drop-off shouldn’t be too drastic.

I think Eli Drinkwitz has a case as one of the most underrated coaches in college football, and I expect Missouri to win all of the following games:

• Arkansas–Pine Bluff
• At Kansas
• Troy
• At Mississippi State
• Florida
• At Arkansas
• Kentucky

That would put Mizzou over its win total even if it loses all five games against Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Texas, Georgia and Oklahoma and I won’t be shocked if the Tigers grab one or two of those games, either, as long as this roster stays healthy.
