This weekend of College Football is geared up to be one of the best slates of all time. So many ranked matchups and upset spots will have me glued to my TV all weekend. Not to mention that MAC-tion started during the week as well. So let’s dive into the matchups and see what’s at stake for Week 10.

The Holy War gets us started in the morning with what might be one of the sport's most heated rivalries. This is the first time that both teams enter the game ranked in the top 10. BYU is coming off a bounce-back win against Arizona State (27-20), while Utah handled business against a trendy upset pick in Cincinnati (49-25).
The Cougars have won the last three meetings dating back to 2021. Utah is riding a 14-game winning streak into a matchup with major Big 12 title and College Football Playoff implications.
The Utes are 5.5-point favorites, but in a rivalry game that has a spread over a field goal, I would lean toward BYU to cover and potentially pull off the upset.

This year’s Alabama vs. LSU game could be the highest-stakes matchup between the two historic programs in recent memory. Saturday's game is almost like an elimination game before the College Football Playoff. Both teams have two losses, and although this iteration of the playoff hasn’t been around long, no three-loss team has ever been in the field.
LSU has bounced back after their overtime loss against Kentucky back on Oct. 10th. They trounced Mississippi State (31-0) and Auburn (38-17). Alabama is 1-2 in their last three games, including an embarrassing loss to Tennessee (26-10). The Tide are coming off a bye, and hopefully they rested up and got healthy.
I lean LSU because they're at home in Death Valley and the offense seems to be finding its identity. I just wish this game was at night.
Miami at Notre Dame

This game between the Hurricanes and Fighting Irish might be the cream of the crop for this weekend’s slate. Undefeated Miami is traveling to South Bend in its first ranked-on-ranked matchup of the season. They struggled against Florida State and North Carolina, but Notre Dame is a different beast.
Unfortunately, the matchup between Malachi Toney and Leonard Moore would have been absolute cinema, but Toney suffered an ankle injury that will require surgery, so he will be out for this game, which is a huge blow for Miami. Darian Mensah vs. CJ Carr is as good of a quarterback matchup as there will be this season. The high-powered Canes’ offense against Notre Dame’s tenacious defense is strength on strength.
My lean would have been Miami because of the offensive firepower, but with Toney out, they lose a huge playmaking receiver. The best offense Notre Dame has faced this season might be BYU, and we know how that ended. A loss seemingly crushes the Fighting Irish’s playoff hopes. Their strength of schedule will not be strong enough to make a difference in the playoff race. I lean toward Notre Dame getting its first signature win of the season.
Georgia at Ole Miss

MISS
6-2

The first meeting since last year’s epic College Football Playoff Quarterfinal, where Trinidad Chambliss led the Rebels to a 39-34 victory over the Dawgs. Georgia will look for revenge and conference supremacy. Their schedule lightens up after this game, so a win and the SEC is almost wrapped up.
Chambliss and Ole Miss opened as 5.5-point underdogs, and the line shrank to 3.5. As long as you have a quarterback like Trinidad, you always have a chance, as last year proved. I lean Georgia because of their defense. The unit is strong again this season, and I have faith Gunner Stockton can move the ball against the Rebels’ defense.

Another elimination game between two SEC teams, both with two losses. My question is: which Texas team will show up to play? Will it be the inconsistent Longhorns team that allows teams to hang around, or will Arch Manning look like he did in the first half against Ole Miss? I lean the ladder, so give me the Longhorns.

A West Coast team traveling across the country to the Midwest? Minnesota is coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss against Indiana. I'd like them to bounce back at home, so give me the Gophers to pull off the upset in another ugly Big 10 game.
Oregon at Ohio State

The Ducks are looking to play spoiler for the rest of the season. Will Ohio State bounce back after suffering their second loss of the season? I think Luke Fahey gains some confidence at home and gets that offense going. I like the Buckeyes to drown out the noise and get back on track.

Kentucky has been one of the best stories in college football this year. Tennessee’s defense at home will be a test for the Wildcats’ offense, but Will Stein is an excellent coach, so give me Kentucky at least a cover, and even pull off the upset.
Iowa at Northwestern

This game is similar to the situation for Alabama and LSU. Both of these teams are still alive in the College Football Playoff hunt. A loss will surely knock them out of contention. Iowa is coming off a clubbing of Wisconsin, while the Wildcats dropped a game against Oregon, where they had a double-digit lead in the second half. I love the jersey matchup in this game, and I lean Iowa as an underdog.

Points! Points! Points! That’s all you need to know about this matchup. It is the highest total of the week, and it’s a perfect game to wind down with after a long day and root for points. If you’re a defense fan, I suggest you head to bed. This game will be fun.
