Me-Guy of the Week: February 2nd-February 8th, 2026

Apologies for the me-guy of the week article releasing a little later than usual. It was extremely difficult to choose the me-guy of the week, with so many nominees. Patrick Mahomes Sr. kept his Super Bowl tradition alive by violating his DWI probation; he simply can’t stay out of the spotlight at this point. Shams took over the X feed by spamming a million NBA trades before the deadline, while making it seem like Giannis was 100% getting moved. Spoiler alert… he didn’t get traded. Luckily for these two gentlemen, there was one clear-cut me-guy that simply can’t get away with his actions from this past week…

 You’re probably asking yourself, what is a me-guy? I’m glad you asked. It’s simple: a "me-guy" is a selfish person who prioritizes their own interests, stats, or personal gain over the team or group. This week’s winner epitomizes all of these characteristics, and after making the Super Bowl week all about himself, he is undoubtedly the me-guy of the week.

Radio Row is a massive event for the media the week before the Super Bowl. Content is pumping, celebrities are everywhere, and it’s used as a way to promote content for the big game. Some people, on the other hand, like to make Radio Row about themselves. They garner all the attention that should be at least relatively focused on the Super Bowl. Some people just can’t help themselves, or in this case, some dogs can’t stay out of the spotlight.

Look, don’t get me wrong… Peter the Golden Retriever is one of the cutest dogs on the planet. I love Golden Retrievers, and I’m a big fan of dogs, of all shapes and sizes. You can’t tell me that Peter doesn’t absolutely love the spotlight, though… maybe a little too much. Just look at that smile while everyone he passes looks in his direction and says “Awwww, how cute!” Personally, I prefer seeing content from Radio Row that actually has to do with the Super Bowl, not just the cutest dog on the planet getting treated like he’s playing in the big game. 

I don’t know who’s more of a me-guy in this scenario. Is it Kirk Herbstreit, for showing off his beautiful dog and taking away from what really matters… the SUPER BOWL? I’d love to blame this all on Kirk, but part of me feels like Peter lives for this shit. Just look at him climb into the podcast chair. He’s taking away someone’s seat who probably deserved to be there at Radio Row and was looking forward to talking about the big game. He even has a sponsor for his little dog car he was “driving” the entire week at Radio Row. Is that partnership money going right into Peter’s pockets?

Kirk Herbstreit is pulling off one of the oldest tricks in the book. Back in college, guys would bring their puppies to tailgates to show them off to the ladies, using the cute puppy as a romantic pawn. Is what Kirk’s doing any different? He knows exactly what he’s doing, and to be quite frank, I’m sick of seeing Kirk Herbstreit showing off his puppy to the entire world. Enough is enough…

I need to clarify this so that people don’t think I’m a dog hater. I love dogs, I just don’t need to see them all over my feed when I’m looking for content about the Super Bowl from Radio Row. I don’t know if I need to see Kirk’s dog in the broadcast booth during a game. Me personally, I’d prefer to hear some analysis about the actual game. 

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but one thing’s for certain… Peter Herbstreit is a me-guy who loves the spotlight. Congratulations to Peter and Kirk for this joint award, especially in this loaded field. It could’ve been Patrick Mahomes Sr. or Shams for his million tweets last week, but it had to be Peter, the cute Golden Retriever.
