What's the Best Sport to Sit Front Row?

I’m here to answer the day old question and that is what is the best sport to sit front row at? I’m talking about real sports, not fake sports like tennis and soccer. The major four of baseball, basketball, football and hockey. A couple days ago I sat on the glass, row 1 for the first time in my life and I now can say that I’ve sat row 1 at every single major sport which qualifies me for these rankings. Let’s get into it. 

First lets start with my most controversial take and probably my favorite sport in general to watch and that’s football. I love going to football games, they’re probably my favorite. I’ve been to more Vikings games then I can count and don’t see that changing but this is about being row 1. I sat row 1 a couple years ago around the 30 yard line and it was good but not great. The players cover up most of the viewing experience. It’s also too loud for you to be able to hear anything which is kind of the best part, if you’re row 1 you want to be able to hear the guys talking shit and everything else. To be honest sitting row 1 at a football game is the same as sitting in row 15. 

You honestly can flip baseball and football in these rankings but I do feel like you get more out of being row 1 at a baseball game. I sat behind the Twins dugout a couple of times and did think the experience was better than a football game. You can hear quite a bit more and baseball is definitely more boring than football so being row 1 definitely enhances the experience. Also it’s still very easy to view the entire field when you’re row 1 at a baseball game. 

In second place which is probably a surprise to many is basketball. These rankings are row 1 rankings not courtside so bear with me. I sat row 1 at a Timberwolves game a year ago and the experience was great. We were right behind the bench and being able to hear the banter between players and the coaches was top tier. To be honest, if I ever get to sit courtside at an NBA game, I’m sure these rankings will change. Row 1 is fantastic but not the best after this week. Courtside probably clears however. 

Coming in at the #1 spot is sitting on the glass for an NHL game. Before this week I have sat very close to the glass and it was great but now that I've done it, nothing compares. I sat directly behind the Dallas Stars bench and being able to chirp from that close and being able to bang on that glass was a surreal experience. Is hockey my favorite sport? No, but row 1 on the glass at an NHL playoff game clears any and every sporting event. It’s really not that close.
