USA vs Belgium - Jeff Sunday's Best Bets
it's put up or shut up time for what I believe is the best USA team of my lifetime.

I have long been critical of the US Men's Soccer team. I haven’t had an issue supporting them, but rather an issue pretending they’re good enough to actually compete with the top countries every World Cup.
Sure they haven’t played the stiffest of competition, but you don’t need worthy opponents to realize this team is different. You can just tell by how they move. This is the closest to South American soccer I’ve seen Americans play. Which is a good thing, of course. They are moving with confidence. The passes are crisp. The touches are soft. They’re making good decisions and being more patient with the ball in their possession.
A lot of this should be attributed to their new coach. It’s a team who believes in themselves but it isn’t false hope. They aren’t elite, but they look like they can play with anyone. Tonight - we see if they can.
Now I’m not going to sit here and pretend Belgium is some juggernaut. They’ve long been the team that comes into every World Cup with a few believers and bettors, but every year they tend to underperform or show that maybe they just aren’t THAT good. Kind of like the Netherlands, but with shittier colors.
I can’t even say “Belgium” without putting the word “fuck” in front of it. I’m usually good about respecting my opponent, but they just don’t scare me. I’m not saying the US is a lock tonight. I’m just saying…FUCK BELGIUM.
In all seriousness…this is going to be tough, but I do think the US wins. I like a 2-1 exact score and even the game to potentially go to extra time. Not PKs though - just extras. And sadly yes, no clean sheet for the US. I like BTTS as well.
Lastly, stop complaining about Balogun winning. I’m sure anyone reading this is not against the decision so I won’t waste too much time defending the overturning of his suspension, but come on. That red card was shit to begin with and never should have been given. Now we get best on best - just how the soccer gods intended it to be.
On that note - my best bet is Balogun finding the net. I BELIEVE!
