The Bounce Back

If you've been along for this Bookit journey you know it’s been a hell of a two weeks & a lot of ups and downs but the vibes are finally high after winning my last four. It’s time to stay hot. We had the Tommies by murder a couple days ago and then had two outright winners with Dayton & Akron. We’re seeing the board well right now and it’s time to keep it going.

The No. 23 (20-8) BYU Cougars travel to Morgantown, West Virginia to face the (16-12) West Virginia Mountaineers in a meaningful Big 12 battle. The Cougars have lost 2 out of their last 3 and are now laying (-2.5) on the road. I bet them last night at (-125) on the ML but would take it at any number. If you’ve been following me you know that I lost a $500 greaser no less than 4 days ago on BYU against UCF. They were (-1300) to win that game and lost by 30. I was as mad as I’ve ever been watching a bet lose. You can’t be emotional when you’re betting and losing on certain teams so we are going right back to it. 

Do I think this line is short? Yes, I think they should be laying at least 4.5 points but I will gladly take them for (-125). I have been a contrarian bettor for the last couple years but have started to get off that and bet a little more with my brain. Call it square or whatever you want but its not as easy as just picking an unranked home favorite and calling it a day. Times are changing and we have to adapt. 

I love the Cougars today and getting Aj Dybantsa as a two point favorite after getting demolished on their home court by an inferior team is music to my ears. I bet on this team to win it all and while I think losing 18.5 PPG from Saunders probably kills that bet I still love the lineup this group rolls out every night. They are loaded and have arguably one of the greatest scorers college basketball has ever seen in Aj Dybantsa. It’s a mismatch at every level. Give me BYU in an obvious bounce back spot.

Our next bet is so obvious if you know me. We are heading right back to our glorious Liberty Flames after dropping back to back games for us. The Liberty Flames face the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, with tip-off scheduled for 5:00 CT on Saturday, February 28. Liberty looked like a a future tournament Cinderella team for the first half of the season but have since looked like a high school basketball team after losing back to back games in which they were favorites. 

I don’t have to tell you anything more about this team because you already know from my write up earlier this week. There is not a group of players or coaches that I trust more to bounce back than the Liberty Flames. I genuinely feel bad for the Gamecocks, they are about to get embarrassed on national television. They are bouncing back today in a large way and I will be laying a lot of money on Liberty (-3.5). Book it.
