South Carolina vs Kentucky: A Live Dog in Columbia Tonight

I don’t know a whole lot about Kentucky head coach Mark Pope, but I don’t think I like him. I do know that I don’t like this Kentucky team. Not one bit. Tonight, I will take action.

 

Steak and I lost money fading Kentucky a few weeks ago, as we watched the Wildcats play Tennessee at home. We stumbled into a bar and shared a charcuterie board during a nice candlelit dinner in Dallas. Steak had Tennessee punched in before the game started. I jumped in late. He told me not to, but I didn’t listen. I wanted action.

 

 

For the first half of that game, Kentucky looked pathetic. Shortly after I got my wager in, Tennessee shit the bed. That result was more about Tennessee blowing it than Kentucky winning it. I came away unimpressed with Tennessee, but even more unimpressed with Kentucky, despite them winning the game. They lacked creativity on offense and I just did not see any “dawgs” on their roster. 

 

Since that night, Kentucky hasn’t won a game. Go figure. Steal our units and then completely turn into the frauds we thought you were. That’s how gambling goes. After three straight losses, I now want to get involved. Too late? Maybe, but I refuse to sit on the sideline any longer as Kentucky continues to struggle.

 

We as gamblers are always worried about catching the falling knife. If a team or player struggles, we often try to time the game they”ll snap out of it and find success. I’m done with this strategy. That’s the old me. Sometimes teams get hot and stay hot. Sometimes teams get in ruts and stay in ruts. I’m ready to deploy units on Kentucky getting into a rut.

 

South Carolina just snapped a 7 game losing streak with a win at home against Miss St. As little as I know about Kentucky, I know even less about South Carolina. But I like that they got a taste of victory. I also like that they have covered 4 out of their last 5 games. A teams SU (Straight Up) record is not as important as their ATS (Against The Spread) record in my opinion.

 

We’ve got two teams essentially going in the same direction, but for Kentucky, this is unfamiliar territory. They had their chances to prove they were legit and bounce back after two losses. They failed. The only way Kentucky were to reverse course and finish the season strong is with good coaching, and I don’t think they have that.

 

As I said in the beginning of this article, I don’t think I’m a Mark Pope guy. This is his time to prove me wrong, and that’s why we gamble. I put my money where my mouth is and will pay to see it. Shut me up tonight Mark Pope. Get the best out of your players and beat the piss out of this 12-15 South Carolina team.

Kentucky is either winning by 30 or losing outright. I think it’s the latter.
