There are way too many me-guys in sports. Youβre probably asking yourself, βwhat is a me guy?β Itβs simple: a "me-guy" is a selfish person who prioritizes their own interests, stats, or personal gain over the team or group. It's commonly used in sports contexts to criticize players seen as focused on individual achievements rather than collective success. So, who was the biggest me-guy in sports this past week? Iβm glad you askedβ¦
Michael Block is once again being talked about for all the wrong reasons. Did he won another Champions Tour event? No, he actually collapsed in the final round and shot over par to lose over the weekend. He is going viral for his on the course antics. Block isn't afraid to "emote" or celebrate on the golf course, something that most golf purists don't appreciate.
Now look, I know what you're going to say. "He's just out there having a good time, who cares?" I care. You don't act like this unless you're at least 5 strokes in the lead. Him celebrating a drive on a par three that he doesn't even stick within 15 feet angers me. That is a shot that I could hit, and he's out there celebrating like he just won the Super Bowl.
It would be one thing if Michael Block actually won the tournament he was Fortnite emoting in, but he didn't. He has actually never won a PGA Tour event, or a Champions Tour event. He hasn't won anything, but he acts like he's Tiger Woods on the course. I'm sick of seeing Michael Block garnering any attention, for all the wrong reasons.
Congratulations, Michael Block. You are the me-guy of the week. This isn't the first time he's won this prestigious award, and it won't be the last. I'm sure he'll make next year's PGA Championship all about him when he's 15 strokes back of the leader. Until then, Michael Block.
