Can I give you some of my favorite fantasy football advice? It's extremely simple, and should be followed in every single one of your upcoming drafts...
Please do not draft a D/ST until the last round of your fantasy football draft. I promise you there is no defense in the NFL that is worth drafting before the final round of your draft. Let's take the Rams for example, they have by far the best defense on paper in the NFL. When you draft a D/ST early, you're inclined to just start them every game. That's a problem, because what happens when they play a really good offense? What happens when they're playing in a game with an extremely high total? Look at their matchup on Thursday coming up against the 49ers in Australia... I wouldn't want to start the Rams against Shanahan and the Niners.
Instead of reaching for a D/ST early, just pick up a new defense week to week based on the matchup and the total. Try to find the best matchups possible in games with the lowest total. Shit, if you want to be a weatherman and find a game with some incliment weather, go ahead. It can't hurt!
Please don't take a defense until the last round of your fantasy football draft. It's not worth it, and you'll feel like you have to start them every week, which will bite you in the ass eventually. Don't stress, just pick up a new defense every week, that way you are never pigeon-holed into starting a defense just because you drafted them early and feel like you have to.
Who should you take in the last round of your draft? Well, the Jaguars are playing the Browns...
