Jeff's Best Bets on the World Cups Best Day

To hedge a Brazil future or not hedge a Brazil future, that is the question.

 

I’m torn about what to do here. I’ve got Brazil to win it all, but I think Norway is the Cinderella in this year's World Cup that could make a serious run to the semifinal. I don’t often hedge, but this might be the time.

 

Don’t ask me why I bet Brazil in the first place because it was silly. I know they were coming into this tournament with very little respect compared to the previous Brazilian World Cup teams. I could not name one player on their roster. But I’ve watched just about every match, and I think they only continue to improve with every 90 minutes played on the field.

 

Starting it off with a draw against Morocco is actually nothing to be ashamed of. Morocco was the darkhorse of the 2022 World Cup. This year, they are a real threat and a team nobody wants to play. That was also the first game Brazil played. What did I tell you? They have gotten much better since. 

 

The 2-1 comeback win against Japan was a sweat but shouldn’t have been. Japan had a great strike to take a 1-0 lead, but Brazil absolutely dominated that game.

 

The biggest concern I have for Brazil is having to play in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where it’s also supposed to rain. I think the location and weather are in Norway’s favor.

 

I don’t think Norway’s run up to this point has been flukey. I think they’re a good team and Haaland is a big fucking problem. 

 

If this game was in a place like Miami, fuggetaboutit. Brazil all day. But a state like New Jersey is where some real vikings could cause chaos and burn their boats.

 

I’m going to take Norway to advance (+210) and sprinkle them to win it all (+4000).

 

What a game this should be. I don’t even know how to cap it or find any confidence in making a wager. Both of these teams are quality teams. England feels like they can actually make and potentially win the final. And on the flip side, Mexico has yet to concede a goal AND has home field advantage.

 

My head says England, but my heart says Mexico. I know they’re a bit of a rival to the US team, but if the Americans go down, I would find it much easier to root for Mexico than any team across the pond.

 

This feels like a 1-1 draw (+500). I think we see PKs (+500) and unfortunately, I think England advances (-130).
