It's Time to Right the Ship

Let me start off by saying that I am well aware at how bad I’ve been these last two weeks and I am fully aware that I am making Trent look like the greatest gambler on planet earth. When I’m hot there is nobody better and when I’m cold there isn’t a soul out there who is worse. The greasers were a great run and made us a lot of money but they’re doing a lot more harm than good at the moment. They’re retired for the foreseeable future. With that being said, nobody is going to feel sorry for me that I have been this bad. The only thing we can do is win and that’s exactly what we are going to do today. I have two plays for you.

The first play of the night starts with a very familiar face for those that have followed my picks. We are going to be backing the (23-4) Liberty Flames as they hit the road against the (16-11) Kennesaw State Owls. They opened up as a (-2.5) point favorite and has since been steamed down to (-1.5). I can sit here and give you loads of stats but anyone who knows me knows that’s not who I am and not who I will ever be. The Liberty Flames are led by a loaded starting lineup that has five dudes who can score in bunches. The Flames have two guards that you will love to watch in Kaden Metheny & Colin Porter as neither stand above 6’ tall and both love to chuck from anywhere within 40 feet but the true studs on the Flames are Brett Decker & Zach Cleveland as they are both matchup nightmares for any team. 

Do I think the Flames are the square or public play? Yes, but I don’t care. This team is better than Kennesaw at every position and there may not be a better buy low spot for them this season as they're coming off a blowout loss to Western Kentucky as a (-8.5) point favorite. Splits matter, lines matter & so does money percentage but what matters the most to me is my basketball brain and my ball brain can’t comprehend how this Kennesaw State team keeps up with this talented Liberty team. Give me the Flames on the moneyline.

The next play brings us to my home state of Minnesota. The North Dakota State Bison (23-6) are (3.5) point underdogs and will be looking to extend a seven-game road winning streak when they visit the Saint Thomas Tommies (21-8). This NDSU team is playing better than could have even imagined this season, they’ve lost 1 game in the Summit League and have already beat the Tommies earlier this season. They’ve won 7 straight games on the road and are looking like a lock to win the Summit League. 

I’m not buying it. They are a talented team but I think they’re the second most talented team in their own conference. This Tommies team is loaded and they play the perfect brand of basketball to play spoiler in NDSUs tournament hopes. The Tommies have been a powerhouse in the Summit League since they’ve joined but this is the first year where it matters as they are now eligible for the NCAA Tournament. I watched them last year cut down the nets after winning the Summit League and then they went home while Omaha went on to the NCAA Tournament. They mean business and nobody turns it on more heading into March like the Tommies. They are going to roll the Bison tonight and there is a reason they’re laying (3.5) points tonight with a worse record while also already losing to them in Fargo. It’s the Tommies tonight and it’s the Tommies large.
