How to Save the Bookit Softball Team

Before we can fix the Bookit softball team we have to discuss the current state of it. It’s not good. After coming off their first victory of the season the team then put up a whopping 1 run. One run in slow pitch softball. One run. How is that even possible? The team they beat was terrible I will be honest but the team that dog walked them last night was elite. They weren't beating them on their best day so who cares about that. You can’t make trades in slowpitch softball so what we have is what we got. My first thought was that this lineup needs to be spread out a little bit better. You have speed next to speed, power next to power and ass next to ass. We have to spread that out so every third inning isn’t an auto 1-2-3 inning. When a team puts up a performance like that they always switch things up. Both offensively and defensively. Let's get into it. I'm going to give you my lineup I would play if I was the coach of Bookit.

Starting us off Batting 1st playing Right Center/Rover - Lauren Cowling 

The one thing this lineup got right was leading off the game with LC. The other team thinks they’re being nice and letting a girl bat first but in reality she’s the best contact hitter and probably the fastest player on the team. She stays. However she should only be playing rover against a good team. Other teams just swing hard and we can use her in the outfield. 

Batting 2nd playing Shortstop - Josh 

As far as I can tell he’s the best infielder on the team. That could be because he’s been withering away at second base or because he just is. I will pay to find out. He is the perfect single/double hitter and always seems to be on base. Just has to fix that cartoon character anger issues. 

Batting 3rd playing CF/LC - Krabs 

Krabs is probably the best player and for sure their best outfielder. Nothing needs to change. He stays. 

Batting 4th playing 3rd - Jovan 

If I’m being honest I would rather have someone else in this spot but there's really no other option than Jovan. I’d like to split up Krabs and Jovan to split up the power but it has to be this way. The arm didn’t look its best last night but nobody else is playing better than Jovan at third. He stays. 

Batting 5th playing RF - Ethan Burns 

This is where it gets a little mixed up as Ethan has the speed and is a perfect hitter in the 5 hole to put behind Krabs & Jovan. They do the dirty work and Ethan hits them in. Once the glove gets going and he gets healthy its wraps. 

Batting 6th playing 1st - Trent Attyah 

He’s going to hate this but come on man. Trent leads the team in errors and can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Nobody can right now but we have to send a message to this guy. I have never seen someone so mentally weak play SS. This guy was having a mental breakdown out there. Get him down in the lineup and out of SS to really change the vibes of this team. He can catch, throw him at 1st and let him be involved without having to field or throw. 

Batting 7th playing LF - Joe Schmo 

They somehow seem to randomly spawn people in this position and they're usually decent ball players so whoever that may be, throw them in this spot. 

Batting 8th playing 2nd - Gootz/Manny 

If we can figure out a way for Manny to play the field and Gootz can hit, that would be ideal. Not trying to kick someone when they're down but Gootz isn’t even close to fielding a single ball. Gives me serious Clark from Benchwarmers vibes, I’ll be honest. His bat has nothing wrong with it and he should be in this lineup but if we can find a nearby homeless man or Manny to play the field that would be ideal. 

Batting 9th playing Catcher - Nick Yahl 

No changes need to be made here. He should be in at catcher, he’s better than what we have had there so far. The bat is solid for the 9 hole. 

Batting 10th Pitching - Rav 

No changes here for me. Rav does a good job pitching and throwing strikes. They're supposed to hit nukes off of him, that's his job. His bat is dog meat though and he belongs in the 10 spot.
