How to Draft from the Worst Spot in Fantasy Football

What’s the worst spot in fantasy football to draft from and does it change every year? I think it does. This morning I asked my twitter followers where the worst spot to draft in a 12 man league is. They gave me a couple of different answers but over half of the votes were for one spot. The #5 spot was voted the worst spot in fantasy football to draft from. While I agree you miss out on the 4 big names, I think you can make a league winning roster from the #5 spot so let's get into it.
With 1.05 pick it is in fact a no brainer and you are actually getting a hell of a player no matter what but unless you’re playing with brain dead morons Puka & Jamar will go 3 & 4 and you’ll be left with one of the most powerful RBs in the league in Jonathon Taylor which is a fantastic pick. Sure he isn’t in the massing game like Bijan & Gibbs but this guy is a fucking machine. Take him everyday and twice on Sundays.
With the 2.08 pick you can go a couple of different ways but this was a no brainer for me. I love this guy and he is one of my absolute favorites to bet on and that is Drake London. This guy just gets it done no matter who is throwing him the ball. If he’s gone I would counter with Chase Brown but I highly suggest taking Drake London if he’s there over Pickens & Bowers.
With the 3.05 pick I picked up maybe my favorite pick in the whole draft and that is Malik Nabers. It’s hard to argue for a better guy to fall to you in the 3rd round. It’s way too early for a QB so lay off Lamar and Malik is 10x better than a Rashee Rice or a Zay Flowers.
With the 4.08 pick is where it gets tough as you have to reach for a RB so you can full out that spot for your starters. I went with Travis Ettienne over names like Deandre Swift & Quinshon Judkins but to be honest you can go with personal preference on that one.
With 5.05 I planned on going WR but I think if this guy falls to you, you take him and that’s Bhayshul Tuten. He's RB1 In Jacksonville and I see him getting a great workload for that Jags team. He is a great guy to have in that FLEX spot and even RB2.
I rounded off my starters with Justin Herbert in the 7.05 spot & Travis Kelce in the 10.08 spot and I think you can get a mid level TE in any of those late rounds so please try your best to grind out that bench because injuries will happen and then settle for that TE later especially in the #5 spot. You can also get a QB like Herbert in Round 7 so there’s no need to press for Lamar in Round 3. Stay the course and let them fall to you.
Say what you want about this starting lineup but you can’t say shit about this bench because from the #5 spot you can get a loaded bench with pieces to win a fantasy football championship. This bench will have an insane WR group on this bench with Terry Mclaurin (6.08) Brian Thomas Jr (8.08) & Jordan Addison in the 9th round. You can not beat this group as your bench WRs. If they’re there you take them and don’t think twice about it. Then in Rounds 11 & 12 you finish off your backup RBs in Sean Tucker & Mike Washington. Are those amazing names? No but you already have three RBs in your starting lineup. Last but not least you finish off your team with Jared Goff which a lot of teams would be happy to have as their starter and that’s how you draft a championship team from the worst spot possible.
