Final Four Preview

We’ve made it to the Final Four, the greatest sporting event in sports. I was supposed to be attending this event and I am absolutely devastated that now I will not be able to. I think this is the perfect Final Four, you get the best two teams in the nation on one side and two teams that were doubted most of the year, by me at least. I think all of these teams are more than deserving and we are in store for an insane final four. 

Let's start off with the game that everyone is writing off as the JV game. The Uconn Huskies are the team of destiny after knocking down the giant, the Duke Blue Devils. They hit the greatest shot I have seen in my entire life and now they look to keep it rolling against the scorching hot Illini. Here is what I had to say about this Uconn team last week when I gave them out at 15/1 to cut down the nets. 

“If Uconn beats Duke they will match up with a much more favorable team in Illinois. I don’t want to sound like a hater because this Illinois is very good but have they really been tested? They were blessed with an awful Penn team and then a VCU team that sucks. They then beat Houston in Houston which is a great win but Houston does this every year where they have a god awful shooting night and lose because of that scoring drought. Credit to Illinois but Houston lost that game. They then get Iowa who ran out of gas and had no chance of winning that game with the whistle Illinois was getting. Uconn can and will beat Illinois if they get that chance so we are betting on them to beat Duke tonight and then we are sitting in the National Championship with a +1500 ticket.” 

Well guess what? They slayed the dragon and now they’re a small underdog in the Final Four. This Uconn team has all the talent in the world to win this game and now they have destiny on their side. I stand by that Illinois has had an absolute cake walk to the Final Four. Uconn already dominated them once and I see it happening yet again on Saturday.

Now we’re onto what many are calling the National Championship and I’d be an idiot to not agree. This is Goliath vs Goliath. Men vs Men. I can’t wait to watch this game but I’m not sure it’s going to be the game we have all been hoping for. 

One of these teams plays in the greatest conference in basketball and the other doesn’t, simply put. The Big 10 has dominated this tournament, they make up for 50% of the final four and also the Elite 8. They have killed everyone in their way and I’m positive we would have even more teams still alive if they didn’t have to play each other. Guess who dominated the greatest conference in basketball all year? Michigan. Who’s going to dominate Arizona on Saturday? Michigan. 

This Michigan team is old and talented with amazing coaching. That’s what you need to win in March. Not that Arizona doesn’t have that but they aren’t on the same level as Michigan. Arizona does not shoot the three ball well and basically aside from Breyden Burries they don’t shoot it at all. Michigan on the other hand shoots a lot of threes and makes a lot of threes. This alone I think gives them the advantage they need to dominate this game. Michigan will pack it in and be able to match up well with Arizona's size. Congrats to Arizona on a great season but they don’t have the guys to match up with Michigan. Dan Hurley vs Dusty May for all the marbles. Buckle up.
