Two teams coming off big road wins. We’ll see a similar spot later in the blog, but for now we find ourselves in the Big Ten.
Minnesota is known for being a scrappy home team. Rutgers stinks, but they have won two games in a row. I think you’ll find this to be a very competitive game, which leads me to believe there will be defense.
Give me the under 135.
This line feels SHORT. I could be way off here, but expected to see Kansas laying more than 10. Perhaps Vegas is respecting the Bearcats. Why? I do not know. The last two times this team was a double digit dog on the road they lost to Houston by 22 and Arizona by 26.
I’m not saying the Jayhawks are in the same caliber as those teams, but Kansas did just beat Arizona outright. They also just covered a 6.5 point spread on the road at OK State. Very low total too which leads me to believe this game will be tight and low scoring. I always favor the dog in that situation.
Simple line read here. I think the oddsmakers are respecting the underdog, and I’ll lean in with Cinci +10.
I saw this line earlier in the week at Vandy -2.5. Now it’s 4. The sharps appear to like Vandy, and I agree. Hate chasing steam but I’m left with no choice.
I watched Tennessee play at Kentucky two weeks ago and was not impressed. Vandy is coming off a loss and if you know us by now, you know we typically fade bounce back spots. But this feels different. I think Vandy was in a lookahead spot last week, and when a team goes down in a look ahead spot, I like to bet on them the following week.
Late to the party, but I’ll be on Vandy -3.5 if I can find it.
K State got their spark victory in a vintage system spot after firing their head coach. I faded it like a moron in the Sunday Steak Special. Somewhat by mistake as I did not realize Tang was out, but glad he is. Good move by the Wildcats, but they are running into a buzzsaw today.
Texas tech just lost their best player in JT Toppin. Now they come back home after a tough L and hearing everyone tell them their season is over. Not so fast my friend.
This is a large spread for a reason. Texas Tech is going to make this one nasty. I’ll lay the -13.
I hate for this to be such a lazy write up with a marquee game, but this is a textbook spot that we’ve been leaning into all year: fading an obvious bounce back.
I’m not going to tell you Arizona is the better team. I think Houston is excellent. Good enough to win it all, although I think that every year. But they’re coming off a loss against Iowa State and your average bettor is expecting them to bounce back. We’ve been fading this all year and it's been treating us well.
Looks like some steam on Houston. I won’t follow the money here - give me Arizona +5.5.
I told you we'd see this same spot later in the blog, and here we are.
Missouri is coming off an outright 81-80 win at home against Vanderbilt. Arkansas lost in OT, but it was still a very respectable performance after taking it to Bama 117-115.
Two very high scoring games that both teams got up for. Now I think we get a low scoring stinker. Give me the UNDER 160.5.
Another short line that I have to bite on.
I do not think BYU is all that good. Love Robbie Wright, but this team has zero depth. I really respect Iowa State, but it would appear the oddsmakers do not. It was one thing to see Kansas laying -6.5 against OK State. That felt like a comfortable button to press with the home dog. This spread does not, which is why I’ll get involved.
Give me the Mormons +3.5.
