Bievs' Mid Major Conference Winners

If you’re reading this then it’s March and all your problems are slowly fading away. Happy March Madness to those who celebrate! Most people think March Madness doesn’t start for another two weeks but real sickos like myself know that conference tournament week is the perfect appetizer whether you’re a ball lover or a gambler. There is nothing better! This year I will be betting on an outright winner in every conference tournament and we're going to see if we can make a profit. I have to give credit where it’s due first and admit I got this idea from Greg (@gogo_dino) on the Fake Sharps so all credit goes to him for the idea. Lets get into it.

If you know me you know I love watching ball but am not going to give you a bunch of boring random stats that we don't care about. These picks are based off value and how I think they can perform in their conference tournament based on what I have watched from them. The favorite to win the A-Sun is Austin Peay (+205) but I'm not buying it give me Lipscomb (+475) to cut down the nets. 

This team needs zero introduction as they are slowly becoming one of the mid major powerhouses in the NCAA. Give me High Point (-150) to win the Big South Conference and it’s not even close. Other than maybe Winthrop I don’t see any team in the Big South keeping it close with this High Point team. Expect them to make a run in the Big Dance. 

Next brings up the Horizon League which is a lot more wide open than other conferences but I still have a winner.  This tournament actually kicks off tonight and will be the first postseason game I will be tuned into. I think Oakland (+400) has a great amount of value but I am rolling with Robert Morris (+280) to win the Horizon. This team was loaded last year and is still loaded. They should've beat Bama last year if the refs didn't have a generational bag on them. 

Next brings us to the Missouri Valley which is hands down my favorite mid major conference in the nation. They have dudes on every team that can play high level P5 basketball. If you want a safe wager Belmont (+155) is a safe bet but I think they’re in regardless of how they perform and they should be. Murray State (+1000) is a fantastic bet but I’m going with the Bradley Braves (+750) to win the Missouri Valley.

I'll be honest, these teams are all awful and I have no clue who I would take so give me the favorite in Tennessee State (+220)

If a team is a heavy favorite to win a conference tournament there is usually a good reason for that. Navy being (-150) is a great example. They have been dominant all season and they will continue to dominate in this tournament, give me Navy.

The Southern League is another tournament that I think is wide open. ETSU is (+185) and the obvious favorite but I think there is zero value in betting them at that number. Give me Wofford (+800) to make some noise and win the Southern Conference.

Lastly we go to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for my favorite tournament which is the Summit League. I have been at every Summit League game for the last 4-5 years and will be in attendance yet again. This year is far different that past years. This league is ran by SDSU and has been for awhile. Not this year, they have no chance to win the Summit and lack any and all talent. It’s a two man race this year between NDSU (+135) & St Thomas (+140) and I absolutely love this Tommies team to cut down the nets and make their first NCAA Tournament.
